AFT LeaderNet
AFT has launched a secure, registration-based web site for AFT leaders, local and state federation staff and authorized volunteers. This new site, LeaderNet, serves a common gateway to AFT resources and tools. Over time, this site will be expanded to include tools and resources posted by state federations. Resources no available include (1) online survey creation, (2) newsletter templates, (3) AFT PLUS member benefits resources, and (4) literature and flier creation, AFT store, media tips, AFT divisional pages, and much more.

Online Courses for Affiliate Financial Officers / Treasurers
The AFT financial services department offers two Web-based resources for local financial officers. The first is the special interactive course, Keeping the Records Straight. Treasures and financial officers can sign up for online classes on a variety of topics, ranging from filling out per-capita forms to preparing a local budget. Along with required reading, participants are asked to complete exercises to meet in a chat room to discuss that week’s assignment with the AFT instructor and their classmates. Classes are not time-consuming and are arranged around each participant’s schedules. Online training may also be accessed trough AFT LeaderNet or call 1-800-238-1133.

Job Aid
A companion resource to Keeping the Records Straight, which serves as a quick reference guide, is Job Aid. This site contains “how to” sections on IRS Form 990, accounting for COPE funds and processing new members. Treasures can use the links on the site to download IRS forms and a variety of other forms. The site also includes samples of completed forms. The Job Aid site is also accessible through the AFT LeaderNet or call 1-800-238-1133 for more information.
